HWA AG is renowned for delivering top performance in everything it does - including in the area of sustainability. The HWA AG not only meets the most exacting demands of motorsport and engineering, but also when it comes to implementing environmental standards and sustainability criteria.



This comprehensive commitment to ecological issues has now been confirmed by an audit conducted by the International Automobile Federation FIA. HWA AG has achieved the coveted 3-star status within the certification programme of the FIA Environment and Sustainability Commission. This is the highest distinction that the world federation awards in this area.

The FIA Environmental Certification Framework is an instrument, which the International Automobile Federation has used since 2017 to evaluate the commitment of teams, manufacturers and organisers to environmental protection and sustainability, according to objective criteria. The 3-star status is the highest possible distinction within this framework.
 


The certificate underlines how important the topic of sustainability is to HWA AG. Environmental protection is one of the company's central goals. It is for this reason, that HWA AG is also involved in sustainable racing series. In August 2020, HWA AG and a number of experienced partners launched the HYRAZE League – the first racing series in the world to be powered by hydrogen, which has been produced in an environmentally-friendly manner. HWA AG also supports the Mercedes-Benz EQ Team at races in the fully-electric ABB FIA Formula E championship.  
 


The environmental aspect is also deep-seated within the company's processes. Generally speaking, HWA AG uses recyclable materials, including packaging, when developing and producing cars and components. Comprehensive environmental management is implemented throughout the entire company. It defines set goals with mandatory requirements, encompasses all employees, and is based on their active involvement.



The measures range from carefully-considered energy management in company buildings and successfully-implemented waste prevention measures, to effective hazardous substance management. However, HWA AG is not only constantly monitoring the way it deals with the topic of sustainability within its own company, but also uses this as a criteria when selecting partners, suppliers, service providers and sponsors.
 


The responsible handling of natural resources in all divisions was already been acknowledged by certification from DEKRA, in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015. The 3-star status from the FIA now takes that certification to another level. HWA AG is the first company with a team in FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 ever to receive this status. HWA also strives to meet the most exacting demands when it comes to quality management. The constant improvement of products and services is the underlying factor behind all processes. This continuous quality management has been recognised by DEKRA certification in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.
