• Production of the next generation of electrified transmissions (e-DCT) is to be increased with the addition to the agreement of a factory in Mirafiori, Italy, complementing the site already operating in Metz, France.


• e-DCT will be available for Stellantis’s mild hybrid electric (MHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicles and carmakers globally.


• The new facility is expected to start production in the second half of 2024.


• This development will meet all customer demands through electrified models (both plug-in hybrid and full electric) and provide permanent freedom of mobility.



To meet the growing demand for electrified vehicles and the ambitious targets presented in the Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan, Stellantis and Punch Powertrain have signed an agreement to reinforce their existing joint venture. The scope of their strategic partnership in the field of electrification will be broadened by contributing an additional site in Mirafiori, Italy, to the existing collaboration.



The 50/50 joint venture between Stellantis and Punch Powertrain, called ‘Punch Powertrain PSA e-Transmissions Assembly’, manufactures and supplies breakthrough electrified dual clutch transmission (eDCT/DT2) for Stellantis’ next generation of mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, helping Stellantis further electrify its brand portfolio with clean, safe and affordable solutions.

"Extending our collaboration with Punch Powertrain to produce electrified dual-clutch transmissions in Italy as part of the e-Transmissions Assembly team is another step forward to helping us achieve our aggressive decarbonization plans across our portfolio."



In recent years, Punch Powertrain has been undertaking a major transformation from the development and production of conventional transmissions toward electrified and fully electric drives, anticipating the acceleration of electrification in the passenger car industry. To this end, the company is continuing with its long-term investment program aimed at enriching capabilities and building state-of-the-art development and manufacturing assets.

In addition to the facility already operating in Metz, France – which started production in late 2022 - the site in Mirafiori (Turin, Italy) has been identified in the southern Europe environment in order to support Stellantis' aggressive electrification roadmap, optimizing all geographic and logistical needs. The new e-Transmissions Assembly site is expected to start production in the second half of 2024.
