17:41 Trucks: Top 6 in the general standings after stage 8
Gerard De Rooy is controlling the race: for the last four stages his lead has remained stable, slightly more than half an hour. It does not necessarily guarantee him outright victory, but always well placed, this evening the Dutchman boasts a lead of 32’35' over Andrey Karginov.
Eduard Nikolaev in third place trails De Rooy by 1:12’01'. He will have to keep an eye on the possible comeback of fourth placed Dmitry Sotnikov (1:23’26' behind the general standings leader), the firebrand of team Kamaz’s young generation.
Trailing De Rooy by 1:48’27', Ales Loprais is the best placed Tatra driver, and is 7 minutes ahead of the Iveco driven by Hans Stacey.
17:32 Trucks: Podium finishes confirmed
Karginov (Kamaz), De Rooy (Iveco) and Sotnikov (Kamaz) are indeed the day’s podium finishers. Ales Loprais (Tatra) has climbed into fourth place, 8’00” behind Karginov, and 33 seconds ahead of Pieter Versluis (Man).
Marcel van Vliet (Man) is sixth, 9’02' behind the stage winner, in front of Anton Shibalov (Kamaz) and Eduard Nikolaev (Kamaz), respectively 11’32' and 14’08' behind their victorious team-mate.
17:22 Trucks: Karginov seems to have won
With a lead of 5’15' over Gerard De Rooy, Andrey Karginov has won the day’s special and is heading to the bivouac in Calama. Dmitry Sotnikov finished 6’55' behind his team-mate, but Pieter Versluis has not yet finished, so the podium is purely provisional for the moment.
16:53 Trucks: Karginov still leads after 211 km
Russian Andrey Karginov (Kamaz) is still in command of the special stage with a lead of 3’33' over the Iveco driven by Gerard De Rooy. His countryman and team-mate Dmitri Sotnikov occupies third place, 4’28' behind, followed by close to a full minute by the Man truck of Dutchman Pieter Versleuis.
The third Kamaz in the top 5, driven by Eduard Nikolaev, lies in fifth place ahead of Marcel Van Vliet and Ales Loprais, respectively 5’50' and 6’16' behind the stage leader.
15:35 Trucks: Still Karginov after 138 km
Russian Kamaz driver Andrey Karginov leads the special by 1’31' over the Iveco driven by Gerard De Rooy, and 1’59' over Pieter Versluis (Man). Dmitri Sotnikov (Kamaz) is fourth, 2’08' behind his team-mate, in front of Ales Loprais (Tatra). The Czech driver is 3’05' behind the stage leader.
14:59 Trucks: Top 6 within 32 seconds after 44 km
Andrey Karginov is the quickest so far, with a time of 23’41' over 44 Km, 10 seconds ahead of the Iveco driven by Gerard De Rooy, which in turn is neck and neck with Marcel Van Vliet’s Man truck!
Ales Loprais is in fourth, 12” behind Karginov’s Kamaz. In fifth, Pieter Versluis (Man) is 21” behind the leader and Sotnikov is sixth, 32' behind Karginov.
14:03 Trucks: The trucks start the special
Eduard Nikolaev is opening the way for the trucks today. He started at 1.58 PM local time for 302 km against the clock.
