Dakar Rally 2014 Stage 6
TUCUMAN to SALTA
January 9th, 2014

12:48 Cars: End of section 1: Al-Attiyah 5th, Sainz 6th
The latest arrivals now allow us to complete the top 5 at the end of section 1 of the special. Nasser Al-Attiyah lies behind Nani Roma, 3’19' behind the stage leader Stéphane Petehansel whilst Carlos Sainz is sixth, 4’05' behind ‘Peter’.
12:45 Cars: Peter ahead of Terranova at end of section 1
To recap, with a gap of 2’37'Stéphane Peterhansel finished the first section ahead of Orlando Terranova on completion of the 156-km first section of the special. Third placed Giniel de Villiers trails Peter by 3’05', ahead of Nani Roma, 3’10” behind his French Mini team-mate.
To round off this provisional top 5, the time of Carlos Sainz is still needed, since the Spaniard was in this place at the previous time check point.
12:21 Cars: Peter regains the lead at the end of section 1
As supposed, Stéphane Peterhansel (Mini) has regained the lead at the end of the first section of the special, 2’37' ahead of Orlando Terranova (Mini). A 164-km neutralised zone awaits before they tackle the last 104 km.
12:14 Cars: Terranova leads at end of section 1, awaiting Peterhansel
Now that three cars have reached the end of the first section of the special, Orlando Terranova has a lead of 28 seconds over Giniel de Villiers and 33 seconds over Nani Roma.
The three men were in this same order at the previous time check point, but Stéphane Peterhansel, who was in the lead fifty kilometres ago, is missing from the equation.
11:56 Cars: Four Minis in the top 5 after 104 km
Stephane Peterhansel has regained control of the special after 104 km, leading Nasser Al-Attiyah by 1’28', Orlando Terranova by 1’50' and Nani Roma by 1’57'. Carlos Sainz is fifth, 2’12' behind Peter.
