The premium partnership between Audi and Kieler Woche is entering the next round. From June 18 to 26, the brand with the four rings will be featured during the world’s major sailing regatta for the seventh time in succession.


With the Olympic Games taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 2016 is a very special year for Audi Sailing Team Germany.


While the athletes are battling for medals at Kieler Förde, Audi will be bringing the fascination exuded by sailing to shore.


This year, the premium brand will again be supporting the “Kieler Woche.TV” channel that captures the thrill of the world’s biggest sailing regatta with presentations of the events, state-of-the-art camera technology and GPS tracking.


The primary hub for visitors will be the “Audi Sailing Arena” at the Olympic Marina Schilksee. This is where interviews and award ceremonies will be taking place and, in addition, Audi will be presenting models from its sporty product range.


The Audi Lounge this year features a novel boathouse concept. As shuttles for the participants 20 Audi Q7 e-tron cars will be made available and 20 Audi Q7 for the trailer service.


“Sailing is an inspiring sport – for the athletes as well as the visitors. With our presence at Kieler Woche we’d like to bring the excitement of sailing to the spectators and, at the same time, optimally support the athletes,” says Johannes Polgar, Event and Sports Marketing of AUDI AG, a former top-class sailor himself.


“We’re particularly keeping our fingers crossed for our German National Sailing Team, wishing the squad a successful ‘dress rehearsal’ in Kiel, followed by many medals in the Olympic Games in Rio.” The final races of Kieler Woche will be broadcast live this year on television by NDR.


A special regatta to be held during Kieler Woche is the Audi ultra Cup in which celebrities from the Audi family will compete amongst sailors from Audi Sailing Team Germany in 2016.


Fielded in the race will be the near-seven-meter long J/70 boats on which the events of the Sailing Bundesliga supported by Audi are contested as well.


On board this year will be Audi race drivers Tom Kristensen and Nico Müller, cross-country skier Tobias Angerer, former Olympic high jump gold medalist Heike Henkel, snowboarder Amelie Kober, former javelin throw world champion Steffi Nerius, Benedikt Kohl, Benedikt Schopper and Peppi Heiss from the ice hockey club ERC Ingolstadt, TV presenter Kai Pflaume, model Mirja Du Mont, and actresses Annabelle Mandeng and Anna Hofbauer.
