18. Hanse Sail - 250 Schiffe locken Millionenpublikum nach Rostock

Tanz der Giganten: Rostock setzt Segel für 18. Hanse Sail
Vom 7. bis 10. August ist der Ostseehorizont vor Rostock-Warnemünde wieder voller Segel. Spätestens im Widerhall der traditionellen Salutschüsse am Donnerstag, dem 7. August um 10:00 Uhr, füllt eine Formation von etwa 250 Schiffen aus mehreren Ländern die Hafeneinfahrt von Rostock-Warnemünde und den Stadthafen der Hansestadt.
Zur 18. Hanse Sail empfängt Rostock traditionsreiche Großsegler, hanseatische Koggen, edle Yachten und schnaufende Museumsdampfer. Neben alten Bekannten, etwa der schwedischen Brigantine "Baltic Beauty", erwarten auch Debütanten wie der niederländische Clipper "Stad Amsterdam" die über eine Million Besucher.
Auch die russische 4-Mast-Bark "Kruzenshtern", der zweitgrößte noch in Fahrt befindliche historische Windjammer, tanzt ebenfalls wieder mit im Reigen der Seglergiganten. Alte Hansekoggen versetzen die Gäste in Störtebekers Zeiten. In diesem Jahr gesellen sich zu den mittelalterlichen Repliken aus Wismar, Bremen, Kiel und Lübeck auch die niederländische "Kamper Kogge" und die "Tvekamp Af Elbogen" aus Schweden.
Auch auf der Rostocker Hafenmeile darf während des 18. Windjammertreffens getanzt werden. Teilnehmende Schiffe und die Rostocker Kirchen stimmen am 7. August mit Schiffssirenen und Glockengeläut die 2. Rostocker Hafensinfonie an. Bands aus dem diesjährigen Partnerland Lettland sorgen für Unterhaltung. Abends können Segler und Schaulustige bei Shantys und Schlagern die Bummelmeile am Hafen entlangflanieren. Das Symphonic Pop Orchestra eröffnet am 8. August 2008, um 20:08 Uhr im Rostocker IGA Park ein spektakuläres Bühnenereignis, außerdem werden "Alphaville", "Nevio" und "Madcon" zu hören sein.
Wer gern beim Auf- und Abtakeln seines persönlichen Traumschiffs mit anpacken möchte, kann auf dem einen oder anderen Segler zum Törn anheuern. Freie Plätze gibt es unter anderem noch auf der "Stad Amsterdam" und der "Dar Mlodziezy", einem der schnellsten Segler der Welt. Wer lieber über als auf dem Wasser unterwegs ist, der kann beim 8. Seefliegertreffen in Rostock-Marienehe auf einem Rundflug in die Luft gehen - erstmals auch mit einem Flugboot.
Auch nach Deutschlands größtem Traditionsseglertreffen begegnen junge Schönheiten Meeresveteranen: Das am 23. April 2008 getaufte Kreuzfahrtschiff "AIDAbella" und der Traditionssegler "Norden" (1870) beeindrucken Schaulustige am 11. August gemeinsam im Rostocker Seekanal.
