The Pole came in just after Marc Coma, 15'08' behind the winner of the tenth stage of the 2014 Dakar.

He lost 5'28' to Cyril Despres, enabling the French to move up to sixth place overall.




15:25 Bikes: Finish: Pain fourth

The Frenchman held onto his place at the finish, 11'11' behind stage winner Joan Barreda. Other riders who have just finished include Jordi Viladoms (+19'27') and Juan Pedredo García (+21'39').

We are now waiting for Jakub Przygoński‎, who is duelling with Cyril Despres for sixth place.

Joan Barreda has won today's special with a time of 4 h 42'00', followed by Hélder Rodrigues at 8'00' and Cyril Despres at 9'40'. Marc Coma (+11'26') could be fourth depending on how other riders, including Olivier Pain, do.

Joan Barreda is still in the lead at CP3, with 8'23' over the second-placed rider. However, this is now none other than Cyril Despres, who has overtaken Hélder Rodrigues by three seconds. Fourth-placed Marc Coma only has a three-second margin on Olivier Pain.


14:47 Bikes: Km 595: Despres, bit by bit

The podium remains very much the same, with Joan Barreda comfortably leading with 8'20' over Hélder Rodrigues. Cyril Despres (+8'37') is third, followed by Olivier Pain (+10'15') and Marc Coma (+10'50'). Seventh-placed Kuba Przygoński‎ is 14'32' behind the leader and 5'55' behind Cyril Despres, meaning he has been overtaken by the Frenchman in the overall.

Hélder Rodrigues, Cyril Despres and Olivier Pain are duking it out for the second place. Rodrigues holds a meagre three-second margin over Despres, who in turn is just 37' ahead of Pain. However, the Frenchman has already gained four minutes on overall rival Przygoński‎.

Hélder Rodrigues, Cyril Despres and Olivier Pain are duking it out for second place. Rodrigues holds a meagre three-second lead on Despres, who in turn has Pain a mere 37' behind him. However, the Frenchman has already taken four minutes back from overall rival Przygoński‎.

456 km into today's stage, Cyril Despres is getting closer and closer to sixth overall. Seventh-placed Jakub Przygoński, 2 h 23'33' down at the end of yesterday's stage, moved up one spot due to the withdrawal of Jeremías Israel Esquerre.


Despres needs to gain 4'40' on the Pole to overtake him, and he has taken back 3'20' so far. Will he pull it off?



13:43 Bikes: Pain still in fourth after 456 km

Olivier Pain is holding onto his fourth place at the first checkpoint of part 2 of today's special, 6'55' behind the leader. Javier Pizzolito and Kuba Przygoński‎ have just gone through the checkpoint 12 and 16 seconds behind Marc Coma, respectively.

Joan Barreda still leads the motorcycle race with 6'18' over Hélder Rodrigues, with Cyril Despres third at 6'22'. Marc Coma, currently fourth at 9'42', still has time to fight back. Fifth-placed Štefan Svitko is 11 minutes behind the leader.
