stage 11 ANTOFAGASTA - EL SALVADOR
January 16th, 2014

17:46 Cars: Top 6 in the general standings after stage 11
With his victory today, Orlando Terranova has put in a good performance and re-joins his team-mates at the top of the general standings.
In fourth place ahead of Giniel de Villiers (1:15’57” behind Nani Roma), the Argentinean (1:03’39 from the front of the race) lies behind Nasser Al-Attiyah and is now in a position where he could threaten him on the next stage.
It is difficult to imagine a change in the car general standings dominated by the Minis, in light of the instructions imposed by the management on its drivers.
As a result, the gap between Nani Roma and Stéphane Petehansel loses its meaning in sporting terms.
16:13 Cars: De Villiers finishes third
Giniel De Villers has just crossed the finishing line with the third best time of the day, 12’38' behind Terranova, pushing Stéphane Peterhansel into fourth place. Nasser Al-Attiyah has also just finished, 20’57' behind the stage winner.
16:11 Cars: Victory for Terranova!
Against all expectations, Orlando Terranova has triumphed on completion of this 11th special stage on the Dakar 2014. He beats Nani Roma by 10’57' and Stéphane Peterhansel by 14’14', meaning Mini provisionally have a 1-2-3 finish.
16:04 Cars: Nasser loses time
Al Attiyah is lagging a long way behind at CP7 after 580 km of the special. In fact, the Mini driver stopped for a long while just after CP6, 50 km ago. He lost more than 20 minutes to Orlando Terranova who now leads the car special stage.
15:44 Cars: Chabot and Alvarez battling after 426 km
In the car special led by Nasser Al-Attiyah, followed 6’57' behind by Terranova, 12’46' behind by De Villiers, 13’26' behind by Roma and 16’21' behind by Peterhansel, there is a mighty battle for sixth place:
the Ford driven by Lucio Alvarez is neck and neck with the SMG buggy of Ronan Chabot, with only 14 seconds separating the two men.
14:22 Cars: The gaps continue opening after 400 km
Nasser Al-Attiyah is making the difference at the end of this stage, distancing Orlando Terranova by 6’04'. Giniel de Villiers is in third place, 12’00” behind the Qatari. Nani Roma and Stéphane Peterhansel are still lagging behind their team-mate and stage leader by 13’13' and 16’24' respectively.
13:30 Cars: Roma and Peter more than 10 minutes behind after 329 km
The leading duo in the general car standings trail the stage leader by 10’17 (Roma) and 13’47' (Peterhansel), in fourth and fifth position after 329 km.
Nasser Al-Attiyah still leads second placed Orlando Terranova by 4’57' and third placed Giniel De Villiers by 9’52'. Ronan Chabot is back towards the front of the battle, with his SMG buggy in the wake of Peterhansel.
12:30 Cars: Peterhansel behind Roma again after 240 km
Behind Nasser Al-Attiyah, leader from the first minutes of the stage, Stéphane Peterhansel has dropped back to trail the stage leader by 10’33'. He trails Nani Roma by 6’34') and Giniel de Villiers by 6’32'.
On observing the time checks, it can be seen that now the Frenchman is setting off the time records after the Spaniard, although he started 3 minutes ahead of him this morning.
