David Fumanelli experienced a sensational weekend at Le Mans, running in the penultimate round of the 2015 Renault Sport Trophy. Sharing an Oregon-prepared car with team-mate Dario Capitanio, the Italian captured the inaugural series title, which is promoted and organized by Renault Sport.


Thanks to the second place achieved in the Endurance race due to a post-race penalty issued to a rival, was able to mathematically clinch his first title in tin-top competition with one round still to go.


David also scored his first pole position for the single-driver Elite race, before sailing to a comfortable victory that also re-ignited his chance for the class championship. He now looks forward to complete the job in Jerez, on the 18th of October.

"Winning the Renault Sport Trophy title is incredibly exciting. The Oregon team did a brilliant job and we clearly deserved this result. I also want to congratulate my team-mate Dario Capitanio, who also captured an early title in the Prestige class.


On Sunday, I was able to score my maiden win in the Elite category, getting my revenge after barely missing both the pole and the win at the Nurburgring in a weekend that was disrupted by rain. Everything went well here and we hope to have laid good foundations for Jerez, where both in Formula 3 and GP3 I always set pretty fast marks".
