Following a first year of competition chalk-full of success for the Renault Sport R.S. 01, the 2016 campaign is rapidly approaching for the teams that have decided to continue their involvement, but also for those ready to enter the fray.
 

In 2016, seven teams will battle after confirming their desire to participate, while assuring the necessary guarantees.
 

Defending PRO category champion with Andrea Pizzitola, ART Junior Team will try to repeat, as will the Italian Oregon Team, which took the team crown and the 2015 AM category with Dario Capitanio, who this year will race in PRO.


Front-runners, Equipe Verschuur and V8 Racing also return with revenge on their minds.
 


Three new teams
 

Three new teams join a field that is shaping up to be extremely competitive. After competing in Formula Renault 2.0 and 3.5, Strakka Racing renews its confidence in the development series’ organized by Renault Sport Racing in debuting in the Renault Sport Trophy The British squad can rely on its vast Endurance experience gained in LM P2 for the past several years.
 

With a long list of GT titles and accomplishments, including victory in last year’s 24-Hours of Spa, Team Marc VDS EG 0,0 begins a new start in motor racing via the Renault Sport Trophy. The Belgian squad will benefit from the technical support of Monlau Competición, which raced in the category in 2015.
 

Following a season with Audi at ISR in the Blancpain Endurance Series, High Class Racing now joins the Renault Sport Trophy. The team of former Clio Cup standouts, Anders and Thomas Fjordbach, will try to make a strong impression in its debut in the discipline.
 



Attractive prize scheme
 

With an ultra-competitive field, the Renault Sport Trophy has risen since its inaugural season to be among the most attractive categories for promising young motorsport hopefuls. An attractive prize plan confirms this status. The winner of the PRO category will receive a complete preparation programme before taking part in the driver selection test organized by the official NISMO team in Super GT. If not chosen, he will receive a 200,000 € cash award.
 

The winning driver in the AM category will be offered a seat in LM P2 for the 24-Hours of Le Mans, or if he wishes, a 140,000€ grant in order to join the Renault Sport Trophy PRO category in 2017, as is the case with Dario Capitanio with the Oregon Team this year.
 

The teams and drivers will be in action at Motorland Aragón on April 22 and 23 for the first collective tests of the season.
