Schothorst wins again, Blomstedt takes first success at Circuit Paul Ricard
28.08.2016: Fredrik Blomstedt (R-ace GP) and Pieter Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur
|

Fredrik Blomstedt (R-ace GP) and Pieter Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur) won the Renault Sport Trophy Sprint races this Sunday at Circuit Paul Ricard.
Fredrik Blomstedt scored his first win in AM ahead of pole winner and new leader in the category, Fran Rueda (Team Marc VDS EG 0,0), and Miguel Ramos (Equipe Verschuur).
With his latest win in the PRO category, against David Fumanelli (Oregon Team) and Nelson Panciatici (Duqueine Engineering), Pieter Schothorst takes the lead in the general classification of his class.
Blomstedt plays with the Marc VDS’

Following his first pole position yesterday, Fran Rueda saw Fabian Schiller (Team Marc VDS EG 0,0) and Fredrik Blomstedt by his side at turn one. The German overtook the Spaniard, who was then followed closely by the Swede who got past him on lap six.
Five laps later, Fredrik Blomstedt took the lead of the race away from Fabian Schiller. The two made contact during the move. Fredrik Blomstedt continued on with a rickety bonnet, Fabian Schiller did as well but with bodywork rubbing his left rear tyre.
Despite the return of Fran Rueda late in the race, Fredrik Blomstedt sealed his first success in the category. Third at the line, Jelle Beelen (V8 Racing) lost his podium result during post-race scrutineering where it was discoverED that his ballast wasn’t the predetermined weight.
Miguel Ramos was promoted to third place ahead of Christophe Hamon (Duqueine Engineering) and Fabian Schiller in fifth place. Jeroen Schothorst (Equipe Verschuur), Andrés Mendez (Oregon Team), Carmen Jorda (V8 Racing), Dennis Andersen (High Class Racing) and Due (Oregon Team) completed the list of point scorers.
Schothorst continues his series
While David Fumanelli claimed his first pole position of the season yesterday, an animated start allowed Pieter Schothorst to take the lead. Nelson Panciatici was third, followed by Bruno Bonifacio (Oregon Team) and Raoul Owens (R-ace GP).
Further back in the field, Nicky Pastorelli (V8 Racing), Tanart Sathienthirakul (Team Marc VDS EG 0,0), Mike Verschuur (Equipe Verschuur) and Kevin Korjus (R-ace GP) lost big with the three latter all retiring.
Solidly in the lead, Pieter Schothorst went on for a eight second margin of victory ahead of David Fumanelli and Nelson Panciatici. Fourth place Bruno Bonifacio controlled Raoul Owens, Lonni Martins (Duqueine Engineering) and Dario Capitanio (Oregon Team) all the way to the chequered flag.
Renaud Kuppens (Team Marc VDS EG 0,0) and Jordan Grogor (V8 Racing) were next after the penalties handed out to Nicky Pastorelli for causing an accident and Anders Fjordbach (High Class Racing) for exceeding the track limits.

Quotes
Fredrik Blomstedt (AM): “Finally! It is nice to win! It was a great battle, it is really a shame Fabian and I touched. I couldn’t have done anything more to avoid it. I tried to pass on the inside under braking and he defended his position.
So I tried the outside, he defended and it happened. Regardless, I am very happy about this first victory.”
Pieter Schothorst (PRO): “I got a good start in taking David on the outside while also controlling the cars that I saw in my mirrors. It was then good to be able to pull away.
I am thrilled with this win, we have a good lead in the general classification. It will be an intense battle with David, but everything should go well if we keep this dynamic going with the team!”
