For the penultimate round of the Blancpain GT Series Asia, five Porsche customer teams are in Shanghai this weekend, home to the manufacturers’ first overall championship victory with Craft-Bamboo Racing last season.



Heading to the Chinese Grand Prix circuit are three GT3-spec Porsche 911 GT3 R and two Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, with the 32-car grid promising to produce exciting racing throughout the field.



Looking to repeat their 2017 performance is Craft-Bamboo Racing, who took a fine victory here last season in the hands of Darryl O’Young. The Silver-grade driver returns to the #991 Porsche 911 GT3 R once again, alongside 19-year-old Australian Aidan Reed.



In the sister #911 car, fellow Silver Cup entrants Shae Davis and Sandy Stuvik will hope that their pace goes rewarded at the Shanghai International Circuit.

 


Making their Blancpain GT Series Asia debut is Team JRM, with GT3 Pro/Am line-up Chris van der Drift and Li Chao. The duo enjoyed a strong second-place finish here recently in the China GT Championship, and will look to use that experience to challenge at the front on-board their #808 Porsche 911 GT3 R. Van der Drift also comes in fresh off a spectacular Porsche Carrera Cup Asia race in Singapore.

 


In the GT4 class, TTR Team SARD, with drivers Brian Lee and Tony Fong Wai Shing, head to Shanghai off the back of their first podium finishes of the season, having taken second and third at Fuji in the #11 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR.



Also returning to action is Taiwan Top Speed Racing Team, who has scored six consecutive top-five finishes in 2018. The #17 car is piloted by Keo Chang and returnee Jeremy Wang, who helped the outfit to a first series victory at the Chang International Circuit last season.

 Joining the GT3 class this weekend is Team JRM, who we know very well from China GT. Li Chao has shown great talent in the car, and with his co-driver Chris van der Drift coming fresh off a fantastic win in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in Singapore, I’m sure they will have a good race. TTR Team SARD and Taiwan Top Speed Racing have been progressing well this season and we expect to see them fighting at the front-end again in Shanghai.”
