Global Touring Cars- Masters in second place, Liebenberg still leads GTC2

30.07.2019: Volkswagen drivers Keagen Masters (ZA) and Daniel Rowe (ZA) scored important points at the fifth event of the Global Touring Cars South Africa. In the first of two races at the Zwartskops Raceway

Volkswagen drivers Keagen Masters (ZA) and Daniel Rowe (ZA) scored important points at the fifth event of the Global Touring Cars South Africa.

In the first of two races at the Zwartskops Raceway in Pretoria, Masters and Rowe drove their Volkswagen Jettas to second and fourth places. The next race began with the grid in reverse order and Rowe crossed the finishing line in fourth position with Masters behind him in fifth.

Masters remains in second place in the Global Touring Cars overall standings, with 190 points, while Daniel Rowe has 179 points in third place. Volkswagen heads the manufacturers standings with 269 points.

An almost uninterrupted run of successes in the GTC2 class meant that Bradley Liebenberg (ZA) and Adrian Wood (ZA) had to deal with extra weight and air flow restrictors on their Volkswagen Golf GTIs for the races at the Zwartskops Raceway.

The reduced performance level made it difficult for Liebenberg and Wood to continue their sequence of successes. Liebenberg finished second and fifth in the races, while Wood finished third and fourth.

Nonetheless, both drivers still head the overall standings.
