Copenhagen Historic GP to host official unveil

- Goodwood Speedweek merges new technology with heritage and tradition
- Motorland Aragón first modern circuit visited
- Unique 'Battle' format debuts at Adria
PURE ETCR, the world’s first all-electric multi-manufacturer touring car championship, has sparked excitement with a revised calendar that will bring a new era of motor racing to some of Europe’s traditional motorsport heartlands.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced manufacturers and engineering companies to suspend the construction of racing cars and also created international travel restrictions that have prevented them from visiting Williams Advanced Engineering in the UK to finalise the integration of the mandatory ETCR kits to their chassis in the original planned timeframe.
The effects of these delays now mean that a schedule focused on Europe provides the best way of showcasing this ground-breaking new series.

Series promoter Eurosport Events has worked tirelessly with WSC – the creator of the ETCR technical concept – and series stakeholders to secure a new schedule for the brand-new PURE ETCR cars, partnering with a mixture of forward-thinking and internationally-established events to create a showcase for the most powerful touring cars ever seen on a global scale.
PURE ETCR’s promotional season will start at the Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix on 9 October, where the covers will come off the competing manufacturers’ cars during a spectacular event as part of the city’s ‘Night of Culture’ ceremony.
Denmark’s capital targets carbon-neutral status by 2025, making it a perfect place for PURE ETCR, which aims to change perceptions of electric vehicles and showcase their potential as sporty, fast and fun ways of getting around.
Not only will each of the competing manufacturers be represented, but the concept for the centrepiece of the PURE ETCR paddock – the Energy Station – will also be unveiled.
The series moves swiftly on to the UK and Goodwood Motor Circuit where, from October 16-18, the new ‘Speed Week’ event will use a one-off format in which innovation will meet tradition on one of the most celebrated historic circuits in the world.
This will be the PURE ETCR’s cars and drivers’ first public taste of a permanent racetrack and be broadcast live online to fans across the world.
Motorland Aragón in Spain will give fans a first opportunity to see the cars in anger on a modern circuit as part of the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup weekend on 31 October-1 November.
Finally, Adria International Raceway – on Italy’s Adriatic coast – will host a spectacular ‘dress rehearsal’ for the 2021 season on 14-15 November with the unique on-track ‘battle’ format, unique starting gate, Energy Station and Hot Zone all in use.
With Adria also hosting the WTCR season decider and full TV production facilities in place, the scene is set for a thrilling event that will leave fans on the edge of their seats as the 2020 promotional campaign supports preparations of PURE ETCR's first full season in 2021, which will include four events in Europe and two in Asia.

François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, said: “We’re extremely pleased to announce a new calendar for PURE ETCR’s promotional season, which is the result of a lot of hard work behind the scenes by Eurosport Events, WSC and our series stakeholders.
While it is unfortunate that our initial calendar was not possible to implement, nobody could have foreseen the effects of COVID-19 on a global scale even six months ago, so series like ours have had to remain mobile and adaptable. I would like to thank everybody involved in this process for their incredible enthusiasm and positivity through this unprecedented time.
With this calendar now in place, we can focus on our primary role of bringing the most-powerful touring cars ever built straight to the fans, helping show the world that electric vehicles are cool, fun and fast.”
