- Revolutionary new motorsport series to launch in Danish capital
- Third new manufacturer to confirm entry - Wide-ranging broadcast plan delivers event to a live global audience
- Event to take place, Friday 9 October at 20:00 CET-
PURE ETCR, the world’s first all-electric, multi-brand touring car championship is getting ready to electrify the streets of Copenhagen on Friday night for a spectacular Grand Reveal event.
Copenhagen’s Radhuspladsen, in the shadow of the Danish capital’s spectacular City Hall, will be the venue for this event, which will be staged on the beating heart of PURE ETCR’s paddock, the brand-new Energy Station, on which the series’ hydrogen generator will also be revealed.
Hosted by renowned motorsport broadcaster Neil Cole and featuring a long line of special guests, the event will introduce the series to a global audience with live and free streaming coverage across a wide range of online platforms.
With CUPRA’s e-Racer and the Romeo Ferraris-built Alfa Romeo Giulia ETCR already announced, Friday night will feature a world-first confirmation of a new manufacturer for the series, while touring car fans will see and hear a PURE ETCR race car dynamically for the first time as well as hearing from other drivers, teams and key stakeholders.
Supporters of touring car racing will not miss one second of the action thanks to a comprehensive broadcast plan that will screen the Grand Reveal into the homes of race fans across the world completely live and free.
Available globally on motorsport.tv, online in Hungary on Sport TV and on RTLGP.nl in the Netherlands, plus PURE ETCR’s social-media channels (full details below), fans will see all the news as it happens.

Why Copenhagen?
Copenhagen is one of the world’s most forward-thinking cities, exemplified by its target to become the world’s first net carbon-neutral capital by 2025 and to lead Denmark to fossil fuel-free status by 2050.
At the heart of this is a strong focus on electromobility. Copenhagen has one of the highest numbers of electric vehicles per head of any city across the world, with 85 per cent of the municipality’s own vehicles being powered by electricity, hydrogen or a hybrid system.
Initially part of this year’s Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix – postponed to 2021 due to the global pandemic - PURE ETCR is delighted to be welcomed to the city to showcase its aims for the future at a time when manufacturers place electrification at the heart of their future motorsport and road-car philosophies.
A circuit-racing revolution
PURE ETCR is the first all-electric, multi-brand touring car championship, giving the world’s biggest car manufacturers a global platform on which to showcase their latest electric vehicles at a time of great change for the automotive industry.
A mix of permanent racetracks and street circuits will form the basis of the 2021 calendar with the traditional race format being replaced by an action-packed series of short, sharp knockout Battles, commencing from a unique starting gate instead of a grid.
With races limited to just 10km, the emphasis will be on the world’s best touring car stars driving flat-out to make every split-second count as they fight to avoid elimination, make it through the rounds and win the final to be crowned the event King or Queen.
An all-electric powertrain comprising a Williams Advanced Engineering battery, Magelec Propulsion motor, inverters and gearbox and Brightloop DC-DC converters delivers 500kW peak energy (approximately 670bhp) to the rear wheels, meaning PURE ETCR will host the most powerful and fastest-accelerating touring cars ever built.
Cars will compete on all-weather Goodyear tyres and recharge together between Battles at the Energy Station, which will be unveiled publicly for the first time in Copenhagen tomorrow.
How to watch
The Grand Reveal will be streamed live on PURE ETCR’s official website (INSERT LINK), Youtube, Facebook and Twitter channels from 20:00 CET on Friday, 9 October, where fans can follow the action and give their thoughts using #PUREETCR.
