Harry King to defend Porsche Carrera Cup GB title

Rising star Harry King can today confirm that he will return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for the 2021 season, with his focus firmly on defending the title he won in stunning fashion last year.

The highly-rated 20-year-old from Holyport in Berkshire graduated into the series last year having secured the coveted role of being the Porsche GB Junior driver - a position he earned on the back of winning the 2019 Ginetta GT4 Supercup.
Joining forces with leading outfit Team Parker Racing for his rookie season, Harry produced a campaign that will live long in the memory as he took victory in twelve of the 16 races, and secured pole position for every round bar one.
That stunning run of results saw him secure the championship title with a round to spare, and saw him voted as the National Driver of the Year by readers of Autosport magazine ahead of the likes of British Touring Car champions Ash Sutton and Colin Turkington, and multiple British GT winner Phil Keen.
Harry will now remain with Leicestershire-based Team Parker for 2021 and goes into the new season as the man to beat as he bids to become only the fourth driver to successfully defend the Carrera Cup GB title.
In what will be his second year as the Porsche GB Junior driver, Harry will continue to benefit from a specialist training programme at the Porsche Human Performance Centre as well as technical support from Porsche Motorsport.

As was the case in 2020, the Junior role will also see Harry represent Porsche GB as a brand ambassador at a number of events during the year ahead.
Harry’s title defence will start at Snetterton - the circuit where he wrapped up the championship last season - in mid-May.
“I’m hugely excited to be returning to Porsche Carrera Cup GB again for 2021 in my role as the Porsche Junior driver, and to be continuing my partnership with Team Parker Racing," he said. “There’s no denying that we had a strong season last year and achieved everything that we set out to achieve, and I’m looking forward to building on that during the season ahead.
“To win the title in such record-breaking fashion last year was fantastic, but this is a new season and we are all starting from zero again. My goal is to get the maximum we can from every race - which wasn’t always possible last year with three retirements for reasons that were simply out of our control - and I am fully focused on securing a second championship in 2021.

"I’ve done everything identically to last season, from the same training right through to being in the same team with the same mechanics and engineers, so there is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to repeat what we did last year.
"Even with all the pole positions and race wins so far, I know that there is still room for improvement and that I’m still learning all the time. It is no secret that my goal is to to progress to the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in future, so it is important for me to work hard and keep improving as a driver so that I’m ready for the challenges that are still to come in my career.
"I’m extremely proud to be representing Porsche GB again in my second year as the Junior Driver. It is something I thoroughly enjoyed last year, even though there were elements of the programme off-track that were affected by COVID restrictions. I’m looking forward to getting fully stuck in to everything this year to continue my development as a driver."
Harry will be supported this season by Octane Finance, 1BR Cars, Clive Emson Land & Property Auctioneers, Entire Race Engineering, The Great British Valeting Company, Hive Frames and Universal Tyres.
