Audi pairs Postiglione/Mancinelli and Agostini/Ferrari were first and second in the drivers' standings after Saturday race, as the No 12 had claimed P3 and No 14 snatched P5 in spite of a 10-second time penalty due to their runner-up spot in the previous round.


However, as the Italian GT3 Sprint series reached the half season mark, they are now third and second respectively, while the winners of today's chatoic race Crestani/Greco are back on top, as they were after Monza tied with the young Audi Sport Italia duo.


Lorenzo Ferrari's race, which started in the second row, from the word go turned into a hillclimb, as a blown rear tyre on the opening lap dropped the Piacenza, Italy-based driver to the last spot. However, the Audi outfit spirit was still high early on, as Vito Postiglione starting from the front row snatched first place from polesitter Luca Filippi and three other fellow Prancing Horse drivers.



But on the Lap 10 at the Carro corner the Ferrari driver attempted an unlikely move that ended up sending the Southern Italy Audi driver into the gravel and also involved the other 488 of Saturday winner Daniele Di Amato: Postiglione could only return to his pit and retire, while team mate Daniel Mancinelli could not drive a yard.



However, the race was not yet over: the safety car phase during the mess mentioned above and the unexpected arrival of a shower later, triggered a full course yellow and another safety car, with Agostini able to climb back into the Top10. Then, on a wet track after mounting the rain tires, he could even sneak into sixth place earlier and then fifth later, the same position in which he had finished the previous day and in which he also finished the fourth race of the season.



With today's six points hauled on the Riviera, Agostini and Ferrari are confirmed in second place with 34 points, while Ferrari drivers Crestani/Greco, have raked 42 stones so far. Postiglione and Mancinelli unfortunately remain put at 33 points, a level also reached by the winners of the second Monza race Baruch/Segù --third this afternoon behind the Lamborghini of Cecotto/Perolini.
