Tough luck at Mugello for both Audi Sport Italia cars, as series top spot change hands

• Checkered flag waved first to Karol Basz, Vito Postiglione, Filip Salaquarda car, but pit-stop penalty drops them to P4
• Early off on lap fourteen leaves Riccardo Agostini, Mattia Drudi, Lorenzo Ferrari scoreless as they slip to P3 in tables
Double disappointment at Mugello for both Audi Sport Italia crews: starting from pole position, Lorenzo Ferrari, Riccardo Agostini and Mattia Drudi could not defend their first place in the championship claimed after the initial success in Pergusa, because the Piacenza, Italy-based young gun was betrayed by an off at turn seven.
He could not resume the race and team mates Agostini, Drudi never got behind the wheel. The mishap of No. 12 Audi seemed to be offset by the prospects of the twin car No. 14: however, but a penalty at the second mandatory pit-stop meant that a rushed restart by Vito Postiglione translated in actually being ranked fourth alongside fellow Audi drivers Karol Basz and Filip Salaquarda despite being first under the checkered flag.

The initial stint of Mugello's 3 Hours Endurance meeting witnessed an early charge from the Lamborghini of Middleton/Amici/Di Folco as they ultimately won the race climbing to the top of the provisional championship classification. The two Audis were on the pace with the Bolognese car and the Ferrari pack: Poland's Basz occupied the second position for a long time and also set the fastest lap before returning the car to Salaquarda.
Intermittent rain made suddenly life difficult for drivers, cars and tyres alike, as the Czech Audi driver was good at dodging the perils of a wet track on dry tires. Salaquarda returned his Audi to Postiglione still in the victory chase and the Italian returned to the track second only to grab the top spot from Vezzoni/Di Amato's Ferrari on Lap 65.
Unfortunately, due to the penalty to be served for the return to the track too sudden, finishing in front of everyone was not enough. In the championship standings, winners Middleton/Amici/Di Folco winners climbed to 32 points ahead of Fisichella/Zampieri/Gai at 30, while third is the Audi trio Agostini/Drudi/Ferrari at 20 points.
