Arden Motorsport make the trip to Mugello Circuit this weekend (9-10 October) for the first of two trips to Italy to close out the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season.
 


The Banbury-based outfit came away with another haul of points in Europe’s premier single seater competition last time out at Valencia, with the team’s trio – Alex Quinn, William Alatalo and Nicola Marinangeli – continuing to build back towards front-running results.
 


Having started the campaign amongst the silverware at Imola, Barcelona and Paul Ricard, the Red Arrows trio have continued to develop their race craft over the 2021 season, resulting a steady run of points that has fuelled optimism within the team heading to the penultimate event of the campaign.
 


The 3.2-mile Mugello circuit in Tuscany is predominantly associated with motorcycle racing, and owned by the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team, but its fast, flowing nature has re-juvinated the venue’s single seater offering in recent times.
 


Two practice sessions on Friday kick off the action (10:15 & 14:00), with qualifying and the opening race on Saturday at 09:30 and 14:55 respectively (all times CEST).
 


The format repeats for Sunday at 09:00 and 14:40, with all sessions screened live and free-to-view on the championship’s YouTube channel and social media platforms.




Ben Salter, Arden Formula Regional Team Manager said:
 
“There’s a real motivation within the team to put some difficult weekend in Valencia behind us, if it had not been for a yellow flag at the end of both Q1 and Q2 the results would have been a lot different.
 

“Mugello is the first of two Italian rounds to close out the season, generally Italy has been a good hunting ground for the team and we are determined the continue this form.
 


“Qualifying will be crucial on a circuit that’s quite difficult in terms of overtaking, and if we can place well, everything should fall into place from there.”
 




William Alatalo (#8) said:
 
“As with any driver on the grid, my primary objective this weekend is to be fighting up at the front and aiming for more silverware.It’s an interesting circuit and qualifying will be very important here to achieve good results in the races.I feel prepared and have confidence in the car, so if everything comes together we should be in good shape.”
 




Nicola Marinangeli (#14) said:
 
“There’s always a huge sense of pride for me to be able to race at home in front of a local crowd, so to close out the season with two events in Italy is fantastic for me.I’m really looking forward to the atmosphere this weekend, and hopefully I can use the extra momentum to keep building towards the front.”
 




Alex Quinn (#21) said:
 
“There’s still four races left and an awful lot of points on the board, so my focus now is really on maximising each and every opportunity between now and the end of the year.
 
“The team and I have been working extremely hard to turn a corner after some tricky results, and this weekend at Mugello is our next opportunity to go out and demonstrate what we’re capable of.”
