BMW Group España’s factory team and drivers José Manuel De los Milagros and Nerea Martí head to Jerez for the third round of the BMW M2 CS Racing Winter Series Cup. De los Milagros and Martí are tied on points with German racers Marchewicz and Sander

BMW España Motorsport will contest the third round of the BMW M2 CS Racing Winter Series Cup next Sunday, which takes places in Spain for the very first time this season.

After visiting Portugal twice, as the previous rounds were held in Algarve and Estoril, Jerez will see another exciting weekend. The Andalusian track is the first round on Spanish soil as the fourth and final round is scheduled at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya next month and the title fight will go down to the wire there.

Jerez, which has played host to main motorsport events such as Formula 1 or Moto GP Grand Prix, will live another chapter of the extremely close battle involving BMW España Motorsport’s driver, Spaniards Nerea Martí and José Manuel De los Milagros, and Germany’s Marcel Marchwicz and Michael Sander.

Both German drivers clinched a double win in Portimao with their Spanish rivals taking one triumph Estoril was just the opposite as De los Milagros and Martí scored two wins there. Therefore, both pairings are tied on points with 120 points each. Besides, the excellent performance of the BMW M2 CS Racing cars in class and overall means that Martí and De los Milagros sit second in the overall classification also tied on points with Marchewicz and Sander.

“We are extremely motivated ahead of the first Spanish round following two events in Portugal. It’s always a morale booster to race at home, besides defending the BMW España Motorsport colours. In our humble opinion, we should have slightly the upper hand both in Jerez and Barcelona as we know pretty well both circuits, better than Marchewicz and Sander”, both Spaniards underline. They are also aware that “this said, our rivals also have more mileage under their belt with the BMW M2 CS Racing. It’s a proper racing car, which demands a lot as a racing driver.

So, how much experience you have makes an important impact and both German drivers know the car better. So, small details will decide everything as our forces will be pretty much the same. We have made great progress with the car throughout the season and it reflects on track as we know much better its features. We want to highlight how well everybody at BMW España Motorsport is working towards success.

They are giving us a perfect race car every weekend. The title fight is very close and a small mistake may be key. Our goal is to win more races than our rivals and take a lead to head into the final round with at least a tiny margin on them.”

After a Saturday devoted to private testing, both qualifying sessions will take place on Sunday morning at 09.00 and 09.20. Race 1 in sprint format is scheduled at 12.20 with race 2 will take place at 14.50. The weekend will come to an end with race 3, featuring an endurance format, scheduled at 17.10.
