On Saturday 9th April, the Eternal City welcomed the 4th round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Season 8.
 


Thanks to an exciting and very close qualifying session, Antonio Felix Da Costa (DAC) and Jean-Eric Vergne (JEV), last years’ winner of the Italian race, started respectively 4th and 5th on the grid and both delivered strong results.
 


After a thrilling race on the symbolic 3.385km Roman circuit, with sinuous turns and several bumpy breaking areas the DS Automobiles drivers, JEV and DAC finished 4th and 6th at the wheel of their DS E-TENSE FE21.
 


This was a very strong result in this competitive Championship for the team and gained us some precious points in Championship battle, a total of 20 points places us in 4th position with 59 points. Jean-Eric Vergne is now 4th in the drivers’ classification and Antonio Felix Da Costa 12th.
 


The 5th round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will take place tomorrow, Sunday 10th April at 15h (local time) as the team aims to step up to the podium.


 

Jean-Eric Vergne, #25 DS E-TENSE FE21:  

“It was an eventful race but I’m happy with my classification. Obviously, I would have preferred a podium but we scored some points which is good. We have a strong car and we will try to improve it for tomorrow and gain a few places, especially in qualifying to start in a better places and be on the podium. It will allow us to end a weekend that already started well."


 
Antonio Felix Da Costa, #13 DS E-TENSE FE21:  

" It was a tough race, I was touched by several cars, so I lost places and I went from being in the lead group to completely having to go defensive in the second group. A lot happened, with a lot of overtaking, so for sure it was fun but I did not finish well. Maybe we were a little unlucky, but the good thing is that we have a good car and we can hope for a better result tomorrow."


 

Thomas Chevaucher, DS Performance Director and DS TECHEETAH Team Principal:  “After a strong performance during testing and qualifying from both our cars, JEV and Antonio had an action-packed race which brought them 4th and 6th. We were pushing for a better result, but this result gives us some decent points for both team and drivers. We now prepare to reach a higher target in tomorrow’s race.”




Mark Preston TECHEETAH CEO: “It was good to be in the duels in the new qualifying system and unluckily we did not get higher than 4th and 5th but it was a good for the start. We had an exciting race today and obviously energy was a key element. We could have been in the podium if everything went the right way but we still managed to score precious points for the championship.”
