Campos Racing targets FIA F2 podium at home Grand Prix 19.05.2022: Boschung and Caldwell will contest the home round at the wheel of both Campos Racing-run Dallara F2 cars. Boschung expects to add more rostrums to his tally and Caldwell will focus on converting race pace into rewarding points

Campos Racing approaches the Spanish F1 Grand Prix in high spirits as racing on home turf always brings special excitement for the team and its drivers.



The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, probably the best well-known venue on the calendar to all the drivers and teams, is set to host the fourth round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship season with Ralph Boschung and Olli Caldwell very motivated to clinch more strong results in their Campos Racing-entered Dallara F2-cars.



The season kicked off In Bahrain with Swiss racer Boschung bringing two fourth places home, which was a nice start to the 2022 campaign. Unfortunately, neither Boschung nor Briton Caldwell could make it into the points in Jeddah as Lady Luck wasn’t on their side that weekend.



Boschung was back in force at Imola, which held the first European round on the calendar, but a fuel pump issue dashed his chances during Saturday’s sprint race. On Sunday, despite a hit that damaged his car rear wing and flat bottom, the Swiss driver finished third after a solid defending drive keeping his rivals at bay.



Caldwell scored his best result of the season in Italy running in points-paying positions for most of the feature race to finish finally in 13th. Boschung will fight to continue in podium contention in Barcelona with Caldwell aiming at his first points of the season following his increasing performance weekend by weekend.



At the moment, Boschung sits sixth on 32 points in the drivers’ standings with Campos Racing in 8th place in the team’s standings.



The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is 4.627 kilometers long and features 16 corners, nine of which on the right and seven on the left. With usual warm temperatures, Barcelona is one of the most challenging race tracks for the tires, particularly these on the left, with a good number of medium and high speed corners.



Despite Barcelona is particularly difficult for overtaking, DRS and the long main straight will bring good opportunities during both races. However, your qualifying result will be play a key role yet.



Free practice and qualifying sessions will take place on Friday at 11.35 and 18.30 respectively. Saturday’s sprint race is scheduled at 17.40 with Sunday’s main race, which includes a mandatory pit stop for tire change, taking place at 11.35. All times are CET.

We expect a strong weekend in terms of performance. Our goal is to extend our podium streak in F2 and, if possible, achieve a first rostrum result in F3, proving we are a competitive racing team at the top.”



Ralph Boschung (Campos Racing Driver of FIA Formula 2): “I’m looking forward to race in Barcelona, it’s our home race for the team, its circuit everyone knows very well so margins will be very close, it will be a nice challenge to phase.”



Olli Caldwell (Campos Racing Driver of FIA Formula 2): “It’s great to been heading to Barcelona for the Team’s Home Race. It’s a track a know well and where I've had good results before. I'm looking forward to getting back in the F2 car after a short break and seeing where we can improve and what results we can get.”
