The renowned racing team will be the first Austrian outfit to compete in Formula 4 UAE
Renauer Motorsport is the only racing team in Austria to date to receive two brand-new Tatuus T-421 next generation Formula 4 cars. Following the official rollout last Friday, the team has now presented its big plans in tranquil Neunkirchen, Lower Austria.
“We have now completely assembled both cars and gone to Pannoniaring for a functional test. After this shakedown, we will run the cars in a few races to prepare ourselves perfectly for the UAE F4 adventure,” said team owner Sepp Renauer.
UAE F4 is the FIA-certified junior racing class in the Middle East, which was won this year by Austrian driver Charlie Wurz, son of former F1 driver Alex Wurz. However, so far, no Austrian team has participated in the history of the series.
"UAE F4 is the perfect preparation for the top drivers of in European Formula 4 championships, as it’s run with the same cars and takes place at the start of each year," Florian Renauer explained, who has taken over his father's position as race director for this campaign.
For the push into the Middle East, Renauer Motorsport has brought in HM Sports, an international sports consulting agency with many years of experience in the GCC. The agency has been active in formula racing for more than 20 years – all the way up to Formula One.
“We have already been working with Sepp Renauer and his team before, on individual projects. As we have been covering the Middle East from our Bahrain office since 2006, it was clear we wanted to be part of this,” agency boss Harry Miltner said.
The 2023 season of UAE F4 comprises 15 races in 5 weeks, with events held at the Dubai Autodrome, the F1 Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, and for the first time, at the Motor Town Circuit in Kuwait. The season commences on January 9th in Dubai with the collective preseason tests.
