Álex Márquez will start the season-ending Valencia Grand Prix from the fifth row after a solid performance in qualifying at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo.



Competing in his final race for the team, the LCR Honda CASTROL rider battled hard in front of his home fans to take 15th position on the grid for Sunday’s MotoGP race.
 


Sitting in 17th overnight, the Spaniard found further improvement during FP3 despite chilly, testing conditions that saw numerous riders fall. After finishing 18th in FP4, Álex then competed well in a hard-fought Q1, eventually missing out on a top-two spot by just three tenths as he took 5th place in his final qualifying session of the year.

“Last qualy of the season and it went quite well I would say, P15. We are in a not bad position to start and to try to make a good race.

We had a really good rhythm in FP4, so we will try to enjoy tomorrow. I also enjoyed today on the bike, we did a good job and need to keep going like this and enjoy tomorrow with the team in an emotional last race.”
