Red Bull Still on Top


Defending world champion Max Verstappen and his Red Bull team are primed to defend their titles in the 2023 season after a stunning victory last year. The Dutch sensation outpaced everyone on the grid, clinching his second title an impressive 146 points ahead of the runner-up.


His team also secured first place in the 2022 Constructors' Championship. Yet, both Ferrari and Mercedes will be upping their game this time as they look to overthrow them from their dominant position following a lackluster performance during last season's campaign.




Disparities on Teams


Out of all the lineups, Red Bull is in a league of its own - with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez occupying the top two spots. However, while Verstappen has made his mark as one of Formula One's best drivers, Perez can make great contributions but sometimes struggles more than other racers.



Initially, Mercedes had a difficult start to last season's races but ended in full force. This leads many to believe that they have the potential to win this year’s Constructors' Championship. Hamilton has always been considered one of the top F1 drivers, and Russell put up quite an impressive fight against him throughout 2022.


Though their points gap may be deceiving, it's clear that not only does Mercedes have a driver who can sometimes edge out Hamilton during qualifying rounds, but also one who is able to nearly match his lap for a lap too!





Rule Changes




As we enter a new era, and F1 prop bets are getting more and more exciting, engineers are striving to reduce their cars' weight by an additional 2 kg - for a total of 796 kg in 2023.



Furthermore, for 2023 the fuel temperature must not be colder than 10 degrees centigrade below or at ambient temperatures when running after leaving the competitor's garage area – significantly reduced from the previously set limit of 20 degrees.





Alfa Romeo-Ferrari: Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas


Alfa Romeo-Ferrari has recently been one of the most consistent teams, finishing in the top three in 2020 and 2021. In addition, this year, they have two experienced drivers – Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas.


Both drivers have shown their ability to compete at the highest level, with Bottas winning two races last year and Guanyu scoring points in six of his seven races. With such a strong lineup, Alfa Romeo-Ferrari will surely be one of the frontrunners for this year's championship.





AlphaTauri-Honda: Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda


AlphaTauri-Honda is another team that could be a contender for this year's title. They have signed two young but highly promising drivers in Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda.


De Vries has already won races in Formula 2, while Tsunoda impressed last year with his speed and consistency. AlphaTauri-Honda could be a dark horse for this year's championship with these two drivers at the helm.





Ferrari: Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr


Ferrari has won many championships, but they have struggled over recent years due to reliability issues and poor drivers' performances. However, things may change this year with Charles Leclerc returning after missing most of last season due to injury.


Carlos Sainz Jr also joins from McLaren, where he had some impressive results over recent years. If Ferrari can sort out their reliability issues, it could be back fighting for titles again this season.





Mercedes: George Russell and Lewis Hamilton


Mercedes is a proven champion. Although they were the top contender for last year’s constructors' title, they have recently been hindered by technical and driver issues.


However, with the addition of George Russell from Williams (where he performed admirably last season) and Lewis Hamilton returning after missing most of last year due to illness, this could be their time for redemption!


If Mercedes can solve their engine troubles, they may find themselves back at the pinnacle of world championships - bolstered, no doubt, with such an experienced duo in charge!
