Continued collaboration signals successful union driven by sustainability and engineering

Veloce Racing is delighted to announce that E.ON will remain with the squad for the duration of Extreme E's third season this year.

The British team and the UK’s largest renewable electricity provider joined forces in 2021 ahead of Extreme E's inaugural season finale in Dorset.

The sport for purpose championship raises awareness of the climate crisis and sustainable solutions by showcasing electric motorsport in environments damaged by climate change. This has proved a perfect fit for both Veloce Racing and Official Partner E.ON as they look to inspire the next generation on the need for electrification.

During its first-ever season as a professional racing outfit, Veloce Racing scored a breakthrough rostrum finish at the Ocean X Prix, further establishing itself as a disruptive force in the industry.

Veloce Racing's best result of Season 2 came in the closing round with an all-new driver pairing. Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor's debut saw the team top Qualifying and finish first in Semi-Final 1 on the way to fifth-place overall at the season-ending Uruguay Natural Energy X Prix.

The squad now looks to build on that performance with E.ON's support as it enters the third season, with the partnership also acting as the foundation for creating ‘green collar’ jobs and skills alongside greater diversity within their sectors.

Veloce Racing recently became the latest Extreme E outfit to add a Racing for All candidate to their team for the forthcoming season.

British engineering student Amanda Kangai will join the British squad for Extreme E Season 3, with the team becoming the first team to sign a female engineer in line with the Racing For All initiative.

The working relationship between Veloce Racing and E.ON highlights both parties’ commitment to forward-thinking approaches. E.ON is one of Europe’s leading energy companies, with its sights set on supporting millions of customers on their own journey to a sustainable energy future, both in the UK and on the continent.

Daniel Bailey, CEO, Veloce Racing, said: “We’re thrilled to have E.ON with us for this Extreme E season following the success that our collaboration has had so far.

“E.ON remains at the forefront of the energy industry and all that they are doing in pursuit of a more sustainably powered future aligns with Veloce's own ambitions within the motorsport world.

“Our collaboration will continue to push the boundaries around sustainable innovation and equality within our respective industries. All of us here at Veloce Racing are excited to have E.ON on board with us once again and we're looking forward to seeing what results we can achieve this year!"

Scott Somerville, Chief Marketing Officer at E.ON UK, said: “Our relationship with Veloce continues to inspire people about the switch to lower carbon motoring and playing their part in a zero-carbon world.

There is so much in common across our two organisations, and the wider Extreme E family – whether it's a commitment to sustainability and taking action for the climate or increasing diversity and inclusivity across our industries, and we couldn’t have a better partner to share our vision.

“I’m thrilled the Extreme E season comes home with a race in Scotland this year. We can continue telling those exciting stories to our customers that the climate crisis is not some distant thing that happens in far off lands, it’s here at home, and the solutions to tackling it are also here, in our homes, our businesses and across our cities.”

Alongside the E.ON branding on Veloce Racing’s ODYSSEY 21 at races, the two organisations will also collaborate across a range of activities, creating engaging content with the aim of raising awareness on a range of topics closely linked to racing, energy and diversity.

E.ON will also have access to Veloce’s vast esports and gaming audience, allowing both parties to engage with and inspire the next generation together in the worlds of engineering, energy, and motorsport.

Activities will feature an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Extreme E squad as it progresses through the 2023 season, in-depth interviews with Veloce’s racing stars, combined with environmental and diversity-focused projects.

First up in the Extreme E calendar is the Desert X Prix in NEOM, Saudi Arabia. As part of the all-electric series’ new sporting format Veloce Racing will face the challenge of two races, as all X Prix weekends have become double-headers in Season 3 for double the racing but zero the impact on the environment.
