TCR South America preview - The championship pays first visit to Rosario

12.04.2023: TCR South America resumes for rounds 3 and 4 at Autódromo Ciudad de Rosario; the event marks the first time the championship visits the circuit located in the Province of Santa Fe.

TCR South America resumes for rounds 3 and 4 at Autódromo Ciudad de Rosario; the event marks the first time the championship visits the circuit located in the Province of Santa Fe.

Following the season opener at Alta Gracia, Ignacio 'Nacho' Montenegro leads the standings having won the first race in his Squadra Martino Honda Civic Type R; the 18-year-old added a second place in Race 2 and built a 20-point lead.

Behind him there is a quartet of drivers covered by three points: Galid Osman (W2 Pro GP, CUPRA Leon Competición) on 55, PRO Motorsport teammates Rafael Suzuki and Race 2 winner Walter Hernández (Lynk & Co 03) on 54 and 53, and Bernardo Llaver (Toyota Gazoo Racing Latin America, Toyota Corolla GRS) on 52.

The reigning champion Fabricio Pezzini, also at the wheel of a PRO Motorsport Lynk & Co, lies sixth a further five points adrift.

Rosario is the opportunity for some drivers to make up from the bad unluck they suffered in Alta Gracia. Osman's teammate Raphael Reis set pole position and finished second behind Montenegro in Race 1, but he was eliminated at the beginning of Race 2 after an incident with Fabio Casagrande.

Paladini Racing colleagues Juan Ángel Rosso and Fabián Yannantuoni scored only a few points in their new Toyota cars.

They both retired following incidents in Race 1, but were set to finish well in Race 2, as they were chasing the leader Hernández. Rosso eventually dropped down in the order, while Yannantuoni crossed the line in second but was excluded for a ride height infringement.

Saturday's Qualifying and Sunday’s races will be live at www.tcr-series.tv.
