Tilke Engineers & Architects has appointed Matter Motorsport as its partner in China, the first such cooperation in Asia for the world’s leading designer of racetracks and associated infrastructure.



The partnership will see Shanghai-based Matter, established in 2003 by respected German motorsport professional Winfried Matter after a 30-year career in Europe, represent Tilke in a country where the sport is growing rapidly. In 2003, Matter played a key role in the development of China’s F1 track, the Shanghai International Circuit, which was designed by Tilke.



Tilke will also become an official partner of Matter Motorsport affiliate Absolute Racing, joining Lockton MIS Motorsport Insurance and Spark Model cars on the team’s entries in the Blancpain GT Series Asia, Formula Masters Series, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and the Audi R8 LMS Cup.



Absolute is one of the region’s largest and most successful motorsport teams, with multiple championship titles and race victories both in Asia and beyond and across a wide spectrum of motorsport disciplines.



The team has seen a spectacular start to its 2017 season, and currently leads both the Audi R8 LMS Cup and Formula Masters Series championships. In addition, Absolute-serviced teams are leading both the new Blancpain GT Series Asia and Asian Le Mans Sprint Series.




The Tilke insignia will be prominently displayed on two Bentley Team Absolute cars for the season opener of the China GT Championship in Beijing, driven by young Hong Kong talent Adderly Fong and Thai star Vutthikorn Inthraphuvasak, and South Korea’s Andrew Kim and Weiron Tan of Malaysia.



 Tilke livery will also be showcased along with Spark and MIS on the Bentley Team Absolute car driven by former Porsche Carrera Cup Asia champion, Alexandre Imperatori.
