Launched one year ago at Spa-Francorchamps, MissionH24 celebrated its first anniversary at the same circuit in Belgium this weekend. The LMPH2G, the hydrogen-electric prototype developed by H24Racing, took to the track for the first time at a race meeting during free practice for the Michelin Le Mans Cup, a support event to the European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.



One year after its demonstration at the circuit in the Belgian Ardennes mountains, the LMPH2G today completed 20 laps at the end of the two free practice sessions, amounting to two hours of track time alongside the other competitors. The car refuelled at the first-ever mobile hydrogen station, designed by Total. Norman Nato and Olivier Lombard took turns at the wheel.



The goal of MissionH24, a project fostered by the ACO and GreenGT, and sponsored by Total, is to introduce hydrogen into motorsport competition, including a new class to debut at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans. Today was a crucial and fundamental step for this new racing car.



Stats from today's free practice sessions:



· 8 laps in session 1 in the morning
· 12 laps in session 2 in the afternoon
· Fastest lap time in the morning: 2:33.445
· Fastest lap time in the afternoon: 2:33.149
· 4 pit stops for hydrogen refuelling



The objectives for this foray into competition were both simple and complex: immersion in a race environment for the team, finalisation of everyone’s roles and of course technical work such as learning the overall set-up of the car, energy management and refuelling procedures with Total’s teams.
