Thomas Biagi harvested the first points in Monza, theatre of the opening round of the Superstars Series 2011.
The Italian driver of BMW Team Italy, author yesterday of the fourth time in qualifying, in race one exploited all his class and determination to defend himself from the attacks of rivals on a circuit particularly unfavourable for M3 BMW's features. The reigning champion ended fourth a race whereby twists did not miss obtaining in this way the first ten points for the classification.
In race two a technical problem penalyzed Biagi's performance, but the Italian driver did not give up and crossed the finish line in eighth, again on points.
Thomas Biagi:
"I think of race two's result as a positive one, considering that Monza was probably the least favourable of the circuits of the whole season. I am a bit sorry for race two, where due to a decrease in top speed of more than forty kilometres per hour I could not but defend myself.
Today I was awarded a great professional satisfaction anyway as Michela Cerruti won the race; she was the first driver to train herself with Grid GP's simulator. Michela, engineer Mazzola and I did a lot of hard work during winter and her success is also a victory for Grid GP".
The Superstars Series will be back on track next 8 May in Valencia (Spain).
