RACECAR Euro Series enters NASCAR family

12.01.2012: NASCAR and EURO-RACECAR announced today they have reached a long-term partnership making EURO-RACECAR officially recognized

NASCAR and EURO-RACECAR announced today they have reached a long-term partnership making EURO-RACECAR officially recognized by NASCAR as a NASCAR Touring Series, becoming the doorstep for European drivers to race in U.S. NASCAR series.

Created in 2009 by Team FJ, with the support of the French Federation (FFSA) and its President, Nicolas Deschaux, RACECAR Euro Series have always been inspired from their American model, NASCAR.

Racing with tubular chassis cars powered by American V8s, and placing priority on fans and drivers with great competition, EURO-RACECAR has worked hard to adapt the keys that have made NASCAR one of the most popular sports all over the world.

EURO-RACECAR will be designated a NASCAR Touring Series for the 2012 season, which opens April 7-8 at Nogaro in France.

As a NASCAR recognized Touring Series, EURO-RACECAR will be the official doorstep for European drivers to race in NASCAR’s United States’ based series. In addition, the EURO-RACECAR Champion will be honored at the 2012 NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Series Awards Gala, along with second- and third-place finishers, the Junior Trophy winner and the Most Popular Driver Award winner.

The series will stay under the exclusive management of Team FJ, its creator and organizer, and registered as an FIA International Series. NASCAR will provide its knowledge and expertise to develop the series in Europe and create high-level sport events where passion, fans and fun on track and around are the key words.

“Obviously, it’s a great day for everyone who participated in RACECAR Series adventure.” said Jérôme Galpin, creator of the series, “Fans, drivers, sponsors, officials, teams, circuits, they all were a part of the series development. Joining NASCAR means entering a great family were key words are passion, professionalism and commitment. Beyond the recognition, this agreement is a fantastic boost for our series to become one of the main motorsport series in Europe.”

“We are proud to welcome EURO-RACECAR to our family of NASCAR regional tours in the U.S., Canada and Mexico,” said George Silbermann, Vice President, Regional and Touring Series. “Fans can enjoy the excitement of great stock car racing in locations across the Europe, while talented drivers take the important first step on NASCAR’s ladder system.”

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, Inc. (NASCAR) is the sanctioning body for one of North America's premier sports. NASCAR races are broadcast in more than 150 countries and in 20 languages. In the U.S., races are broadcast on FOX, TNT, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2, SPEED and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

NASCAR fans are among the most brand loyal in all of sports, and as a result more Fortune 100 companies participate in NASCAR than any other sport. NASCAR consists of three national series (the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series), four regional series, and one local grassroots series, as well as three international series.

Also part of NASCAR is GRAND-AM Road Racing, known for its competition on road courses with multiple classes of cars. NASCAR sanctions more than 1,200 races at 100 tracks in more than 30 U.S. states, Canada and Mexico. Based in Daytona Beach, Fla., NASCAR has offices in eight cities across North America.
