Maurer Motorsport enters the opening round with Alain Menu’s son, the Villota brothers and the three Moroccan drivers who will take part in the WTCC’s Marrakech race

The opening round of the newly-launched ADAC Cruze Cup, to take place at the Nürburgring this week-end will see the participation of some interesting names. Maurer Motorsport, the Swiss outfit which has been using Chevrolet cars in recent years, is entering three Cruzes, to be entrusted to:
• Larbi Tadlaoui, Youssef El-Marnissi and Ismail Sbai, the three young Moroccan drivers who will be racing in the Independents’ Trophy category at the forthcoming WTCC event in Marrakech with Maurer’s Lacettis. This outing in the ADAC Cruze Cup will be very useful for them to get some race mileage ahead of their WTCC debut;
• Maxime Menu, the 17-year old son of Alain Menu, who will be assisted from the pit wall by his father, already quite nervous in this new and unusual role;
• María De Villota and his brother Emilio jr, both experienced racing drivers and children of former F.1 driver Emilio De Villota. They will share the wheel with 2009 Hungarian rally champion and TV journalist Zoltan Bessenyey.
The ADAC Cruze Cup, which uses race-spec Chevrolet Cruzes prepared by Wiechers Motorsport, is Chevrolet Europe’s first foray into single-make racing and perfectly represents the the brand’s positioning by offering fantastic value for money and reliability.
