The worlds leading manufacturer of single-engine turboprop aircraft, Pilatus Aircraft and the worlds most successful one-make sports car championship, Carrera Cup it makes a perfect fit.
With that in mind Pilatus Australia has reaffirmed its commitment to Carrera Cup Australia. For the 2008 season Pilatus will have the naming rights to the championship-within-a-championship, the Pilatus Challenge.
The Pilatus Challenge will be contested by non-professional drivers over the age of 30 and adds an extra level of incentive for racers who wouldnt normally challenge for race wins.
As well as the naming rights, Pilatus will increase their signage on the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) cars, with their distinctive blue logo taking pride of place on the vehicles side mirrors.
Established in 1939 and headquartered in Stans, Switzerland, Pilatus is a privately owned company employing more than 1,000 people world wide.
Pilatus established its Australian base in Adelaide in 1998 and it provides marketing, sales, and service for their aircraft in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Islands.
Included among Pilatus clients are the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia, numerous Police agencies and many private clients.
Carrera Cup Australia CEO Theo Psaros said the extension of Pilatus involvement in the championship highlighted the many benefits the category offered its sponsors.
"As the primary support category to the V8 Supercar Championship Series and with nearly 10 hours of television to be broadcast on Channel 7 in 2008, the benefits to Pilatus, and indeed all our sponsors, are obvious," he said.
"Pilatus commitment is a significant boost to the category and we are delighted they will play a more significant role this year."
Pilatus Australia CEO Sebastian Lip said his company was excited to strengthen their relationship with Australias premium sports car category.
"Everyone involved with Pilatus has thoroughly enjoyed our association with Carrera Cup Australia so far and we look forward to extending the partnership," he said.

Carrera Cup Australia takes to the track for the first time in 2008 at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide from 21st-24th February.
