The German GT Championship once again provided spectators and fans with captivating motorsport, thrilling battles and some fascinating figures in 2022. We take a look at the statistics from last season’s 14 races at seven circuits in three countries:



The most successful manufacturer of the 2022 season was by far Mercedes-AMG. The brand with the star amassed six victories in total. Audi, BMW, Lamborghini and Porsche each ended the year with two wins to their name.



18 different drivers won races in the 2022 German GT Championship. Seven teams from five different manufacturers picked up at least one race win.



The 2022 ADAC GT Masters saw the cars use a sustainable fuel made from renewable components for the first time. Developed by Shell exclusively for the German GT Championship, the new fuel consisted of 50% fossil-free components. Over the course of the season, the competitors completed a total of 19,525 laps and 76,612 kilometres in practice, qualifying and the 14 races.



The high standard throughout the field was clear for all to see in qualifying. In the season’s 14 qualifying sessions, eleven different drivers won the Pirelli Pole Position Award. With four fastest times to his name, 2022 champion Raffaele Marciello was the most successful driver. As well as the bonus points, Marciello also took home four valuable rewards from series partner Pirelli.



The championship lead changed hands several times at the start of the season: Ricardo Feller and Jusuf Owega topped the table after the races in Oschersleben, but the championship then had new leaders after each race at the Red Bull Ring. Jusuf Owega regained the lead in Zandvoort, before Raffaele Marciello moved to the top of the championship at the Nürburgring, and never looked back.



Fabian Schiller and Jules Gounon were the most successful duo in the 2022 ADAC GT Masters. The Drago Racing Team ZVO drivers took finished on the podium on no fewer than four occasions: in the Sunday race at the season-opener at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, in race two at the Nürburgring weekend, in the Saturday race at the Sachsenring, and in the final race of the season in Hockenheim.



Fabian Schiller and Jules Gounon also led for the most laps in the 2022 season. The duo from Drago Racing Team ZVO found themselves at the front of the field for a total of 137 laps. Their Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo led from start to finish in race two in Oschersleben – a feat achieved by no other pair in 2022.



Drago Racing Team ZVO claimed four victories in the 2022 ADAC GT Masters season – more than any other team. Schubert Motorsport, Emil Frey Racing, Montaplast by Land-Motorsport and Team Joos Sportwagentechnik each had two wins to their name, while Mann-Filter Team Landgraf and Mercedes-AMG Team ZVO won one race.



The only brace of wins in the 2022 season came courtesy of Ben Green and Niklas Krütten. The BMW duo was unstoppable when the German GT Championship visited the Red Bull Ring, coming through from third on the grid to take victory in the opening race. The two Schubert Motorsport drivers dominated the Sunday race from pole position.



With four first places, Fabian Schiller was the most successful driver in the Pirelli Junior competition. Maximilian Paul was second with just one victory fewer. Ben Green consistently finished in the points and was consequently crowned Junior Champion at the end of the season.



Schubert Motorsport and Emil Frey Racing were the only teams in 2022 who managed to land two pairs of drivers on the podium in the same race. Joining race winners Ben Green and Niklas Krütten for the champagne shower after Sunday’s race at the Red Bull Ring, courtesy of series partner Schumacher Selection, were BMW works drivers Jesse Krohn and Nicky Catsburg. The Lamborghini team saw its drivers Albert Costa Balboa and Jack Aitken take victory in race two in Zandvoort. They were joined on the podium by team-mates Arthur Rougier and Franck Perera in third place.



50 victories! Christopher Mies and Tim Zimmermann picked up win number 50 for Audi. The Team Montaplast by Land -Motorsport duo won the Sunday race at the DEKRA Lausitzring. This was the maiden victory in the German GT Championship for Tim Zimmermann, while Christopher Mies has now climbed onto the top step of the podium 13 times.



21 drivers made their ADAC GT Masters debut in 2022. The most successful rookie was Ayhancan Güven from Team Joos Sportwagentechnik and Schubert Motorsport driver Ben Green. While Güven finished runner-up in the championship alongside Christian Engelhart, Green triumphed in the Pirelli Junior competition.



There were also a number of new teams in the German GT Championship: Allied-Racing, Dinamic Motorsport, Eastalent Racing, ID Racing, JP Motorsport, Madpanda Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG Team ZVO, Drago Racing Team ZVO, Paul Motorsport, Seyffarth Motorsport and Emil Frey Racing all made their debut in the ADAC GT Masters in 2022 – the Swiss crew ended up winning the Team title.



The drivers in the German GT Championship completed a total of 10,971 race laps in 2022. Every single one of those laps was worth four euros. That is the amount that the ADAC GT Masters and series partner BWT has donated to b.waterMISSION since the start of the 2021 season. The organisation works primarily in Gambia and Tanzania, where it constructs wells to provide people with clean drinking water. This year, the money raised by the BWT Race Lap Award was bumped up to € 50,000.



Fans of the German GT Championship set six new crowd records in 2022. 28,000 spectators flocked to Motorsport Arena Oschersleben for the opening round of the season, before new records also followed at the next five events.



The closest victory of the 2022 season came in Saturday’s race in Austria: at the Red Bull Ring, Niklas Krütten in the Schubert Motorsport BMW crossed the finish line just 0.555 seconds ahead of Christian Engelhart, who came home second in the Porsche of Team Joos Sportwagentechnik. Marvin Dienst and Jan Marschalkowski won by the biggest margin of the year at the Sachsenring. Mercedes-AMG Team ZVO driver Marschalkowski took his maiden victory in the German GT Championship with a commanding lead of 7.859 seconds, ahead of fellow Mercedes-AMG driver Raffaele Marciello from Mann-Filter Team-Landgraf.
