12:05 Quads: Finish: Casale rules the roost!

Ignacio Casale has taken the 2014 Dakar in style after winning the last special by 54' over Sebastian Husseini and 3'07' over Rafał Sonik. Chile's Gallegos Lozic (+4'41') finished fourth ahead of Sergey Karyakin.



11:25 Quads: Km 110: No changes in the top 3

Ignacio Casale, Sebastian Husseini and Rafał Sonik are still leading the quad race, with 2'36' separating them. Gallegos Lozic, González Ferioli and Karyakin are their closest pursuers.



10:46 Quads: Km 69: The big guns in control


The top 3 of the overall classification is also leading today's special at this checkpoint. With a time of 57'51', Casale was 36' faster than Husseini and 1'27' faster than Sonik.

Chile's Gallegos Lozic is fourth, 2'18' down, with Argentina's González Ferioli, Russia's Karyakin and Qatar's Abu-Issa close behind.



10:23 Quads: Km 41: Casale jumps ahead

The overall leader of the quad classification, Ignacio Casale, bested Sebastian Hussein by 1'15' over the first 41 kilometres. Rafał Sonik has just clocked the third best time, 1'33' behind the Chilean.



10:18 Quads: Km 41: Husseini takes control


The Dutchman has posted the fastest time so far at the checkpoint: 33'16'. Next best were Russia's Karyakin and Chile's Gallegos Lozic. Ignacio Casale has yet to go through the checkpoint.




09:24 Quads: The other leaders at the start of the last stage

Qatari Mohammed Abu-Issa leads the best rookie classification of the 2014 at the start of today's stage, ahead of Víctor Manuel Gallegos and Jeremías González Ferioli. He still has not got it in the back, although he does command a 25-minute lead.


The only female rider, who will very likely make it to the finish, is Italy's Camelia Liparoti, who is set to achieve her goal of reaching Valparaíso despite a complicated Dakar.
