Dakar Rally 2019
Stage 10 from Pisco to Lima
Thursday, January 17th 2019

08:59 Quintanilla trails by 8’20
Pablo Quintanilla has virtually lost his second place in the general standings to Matthias Walkner. The Husqvarna rider lost 8’20 after his fall and is gritting his teeth and bearing it in order to save his podium place on the Dakar.
Pablo Quintanilla will not win this edition of the Dakar!
The Chilean, who was second in the general standings before this last stage, has fallen after only 10 km of the special. Obliged to attack to make up the minute by which he trailed Toby Price, the Husqvarna rider has made a riding mistake. With an injured foot, he has resumed racing to try and save his second place in the general standings.
08:52 Price second at WP1
Toby Price has reached WP1 in second place, 14 seconds behind Kevin Benavides. The Australian is maintaining an excellent pace, while Matthias Walkner is not tempting fate 1’06 behind. However, Pablo Quintanilla has not yet reached the way point. When he does, we will know just how much time he has lost.
09:09 Price still in the reckoning at WP2
After 50 kilometres of the special, Toby Price has not slowed down. The winner in 2016 saw Pablo Quintanilla fall in front of him, but wants to leave his mark on this last stage. He is 11 seconds behind his team-mate Sam Sunderland.
08:38 Show time!
Pablo Quintanilla and Toby Price have started the special. Separated by little more than a minute in the general standings, the two men will do battle over 112 km to see who wins the bike category on the Dakar!
