Gregor Fisken to race legendary Ferrari 330 P3 at Paul Ricard

Gregor Fisken will race an ex-works Ferrari 330 P3 at Paul Ricard this weekend having been invited to compete in the Ferrari Historic Challenge by the cars owner.
The Scottish-born racing driver, Managing Director of Londons leading historic automobile dealership Fiskens, has a long and illustrious past in historic racing and has also competed regularly in modern day sportscars, being one of only a select few drivers to have competed at the Le Mans 24 Hours in LMP1, LMP2, GT2 machinery and last year in GT1, in the Larbre run Aston Martin DBR9.
Built in 1966, the second chassis of only three ever to be made, the P3 is an iconic racing car, with chassis number 0844 having won the Monza 1000kms in the hands of John Surtees and Mike Parkes and the Spa 1000kms with Parkes and Italian Ludovico Scarfiotti. The following year it finished third overall in the Daytona 24 Hours with Mexican Pedro Rodriguez and Frenchman Jean Guichet at the wheel. It has a 4-litre, V12 engine and was designed to challenge the all conquering 7-litre Ford GT40s at the worlds most famous sportscar races of the period.
The car will be prepared by Tim Samways Sporting and Historic Car Engineers, who are responsible for having rebuilt it to its current race ready form, and Fisken revealed his delight at the chance to race such an historic machine.
Gregor said: "I have to thank the team for giving me this opportunity of which I will relish every minute. The 330 P3 is a wonderful car and when I tested it at Donington Park last week it felt superb. The car not only has an extensive and impressive motorsport history, but is one of only three ever made. To sit in the same cockpit where so many iconic drivers of yesteryear have been before was very special.
"As someone heavily involved in the world of historic motorsport, the chance to race it is a huge honour, not only for me, but for everyone at Fiskens."
The Ferrari Historic Challenge visits Paul Ricard on Sunday 1st June having already raced at Mugello this season. Further races are scheduled later in the year at Budapest and the Nurbürgring.
