Although the 2012 generation of young drivers are still diligently preparing for the Grand Finale of the Formula BMW Talent Cup in Oschersleben (14–16 September), preparations for the following year are well advanced.


The organisers of the “made by BMW” young driver development concept convened a show event during the German Kart Championship round in Ampfing, where information material outlining the direction of the series in 2013 was presented.

Spectacular demonstration: The Formula BMW Talent Cup was on display during a round of the German Kart Championship (DKM) held in Ampfing, thus opening its awareness campaign for the 2013 season. Formula BMW Talent Cup provides drivers with a unique opportunity of stepping up from karting to single-seater racing.


All aspects of the series, which provides intensive coaching in crucial aspects such as driving dynamics, fitness-, mental- and media training courses plus sessions at exclusively rented circuits in order to maximise practical experience, came under discussion in the Ampfing paddock.


Marvin Dienst, a competitor in the 2012 Talent Cup, drove demonstration laps in the Formula BMW FB02, the Talent Cup’s regulation single-seater racing car, and was widely interviewed.
 
 

Best prepared: 2013 Formula BMW Talent Cup material now available


An evaluation ‘shoot-out’, during which 14-19 year-old drivers may acquaint themselves with the Formula BMW FB02 and stand to win support in the value of 35,700 Euro, is recommended before committing themselves to Formula BMW Talent Cup.


Interested drivers may access details about the various test and shoot-out venues planned for this year in preparation for the 2013 season at formula-bmw.com, where brochures and the necessary documentation can also be downloaded.


The first test is scheduled for 5 July in Brands Hatch/Great Britain, with further sessions scheduled for other circuits in August, September and October. 2012 sees a revision to the test and shoot-out programme.
 


Virtual cockpit: Formula BMW Talent Cup

The official BMW Motorsport website contains video material which provides cockpit impressions and portrays the activities drivers can expect during the 2013 season. Event reviews are also available on bmw-motorsport.com.


Young drivers receive holistic tuition through to the Grand Finale in Oschersleben, where three races – staged as part of the internationally-followed DTM programme – will decide the winner, who stands to win the sum of 297,500 Euro towards the next step on the single-seater racing ladder.
