Super Nova Abu Dhabi qualifying

After a frustrating qualifying session today the Super Nova cars will line up in 16th (Johnny Cecotto) and 23rd (Fairuz Fauzy), on the grid for tomorrow’s GP2 Asia feature race.


As expected the times were very close, with just over a second from pole position to P16 and traffic appeared to be very easy to come by, especially in the final sector. The team is looking forward to the race tomorrow where tyre wear will more than likely play an important role.
 


Johnny Cecotto

"Well, I think we were a little bit unlucky in our qualifying session today because i think the potential was a lot higher than what we showed and I never really got a lap without traffic to do the time that we were capable of."
 


Fairuz Fauzy

"I was struggling with my braking and the car felt different to where we ended  to test, so i was finding it difficult to get the car stopped where I wanted to and looking at the data this is where most of my time was lost. Anything can happen in the race so I have to get my start right and we will see what we can do to get a better finishing position."
 

David Sears

"Our expectation level was for both drivers to be in the top half of the field. However, with traffic and not putting a good lap together both Johnny and Fairuz will have to demonstrate a good race pace to try to get up into the points scoring positions."
