Henning Solberg and his brother Petter both retired from Saturdays competition on consecutive stages and with similar mechanical problems.

The organisers of Rally Japan have cancelled this afternoons repeat of the 5.74km Pipaoi test.
The Clerk of the Course, Makita Ryuji, said the decision had been taken as a result of delays caused by the cancellation of SS6.

The Clerk of the Course of Rally Japan has confirmed that one of today's (Friday) stages has been cancelled as a result of the snow which has fallen in recent days.
A statement read: Due to abnormal weather and resulting deterioration of the road, SS3/7 is cancelled for safety reasons.

François Duval has been confirmed as Gigi Gallis replacement in the Stobart VK M-Sport Ford rally team for the remaining two gravel events in this years FIA World Rally Championship. The Belgian will continue to be partnered by Patrick Pivato as the pair tackle Rally Japan and Wales Rally GB in a Stobart liveried Ford Focus RS WRC07.

The organisers of Rally Japan have announced a new title sponsorship deal with the multinational Pioneer Corporation and its car electronics arm, Carrozzeria.
Rally Japan, round 14 of this years WRC, will run between 30 October and 2 November under the new name Pioneer Carrozzeria Rally Japan.
