The 29th Goodwood Festival of Speed freed from the health restrictions of the last two editions put on a four-day motor sporting festival attended by over 200.000 visitors - a historic success! And the MissionH24 programme’s prototypes were the centre of a great deal of attention both on the track and in the paddock!

Friday 24th June, second day of the Festival of Speed, MissionH24 created a sensation on the dummy grid!  The stars from the world of motor sport flocked to see one of the programme’s electric-hydrogen prototypes.

From left to right, Pierre Fillon (President of the ACO which organises the 24 Hours of Le Mans, co-president of MissionH24), Tom Kristensen (the record-holder for the number of victories  in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with nine), Jacky Ickx (six victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans), René Arnoux (seven victories in Formula 1), Emanuele Pirro (five victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans), Christophe Ricard (President of GreenGT, co-president of MissionH24), James "Jim" Glickenhaus (founder and manager of the eponymous team and brand of the same name, which finished third in the 2022 24 Hours of Le Mans).

Never has the Goodwood Festival of Speed welcomed such a huge crowd. For several weeks the only tickets still on sale were those for Thursday 23rd June, the first day of the event. The following three days were sold out! MissionH24 was both witness to, and actor in, this success.

Last year, the H24Racing team was invited to put on a demonstration run with one of their electric-hydrogen prototypes, the LMPH2G. This year the team was invited to take part with their two cars.

The LMPH2G was down to do demonstration runs driven by Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest and co-President of MissionH24, while the new H24, which has already taken part in the Michelin Le Mans Cup races this season, was entered for the Shoot-Out, the hill climb, in the hands of Stéphane Richelmi, one of MissionH24’s racing drivers.

To support one of the themes of FOS 2022 (new mobility technologies) the organisers decided to mix up the two MissionH24 prototypes with other grids in the daily runs so that drivers as well as the motor car manufacturers invited to Goodwood (in particular, Porsche, Ferrari, Subaru and Aston Martin) could discover GreenGT’s solution for electric-hydrogen propulsion and the MissionH24 programme jointly developed by GreenGT and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, organiser of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will have a category dedicated to this technology on the horizon of 2025.

It worked like a dream as both in the paddock and in the preparation phases for the track sequences (parc fermé at the start, dummy grid, paddock at the finish) the two prototypes exerted a magnetic power of attraction!

F1 drivers, Rally drivers, multiple winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans still racing or not, aces from the world of motorbike racing, in fact almost all the stars present in the paddock came to talk to Christophe Ricard, the president of GreenGT, co-President of MissionH24, Pierre Fillon and Stéphane Richelmi who were on hand beside their cars. They came to have the technology explained to them or to sit behind the wheel and discover the cockpits of the LMPH2G and the H24 with help of their drivers.

In the Shoot-Out, Stéphane Richelmi set an excellent third-quickest time in the provisional overall classification on Thursday in the first practice sessions. But he wasn’t able to match this time on Sunday in the hill climb due to the failure of an electric component that handicapped his run.

Today, Sunday, MissionH24 sets off from Goodwood having welcomed more than 50.000 people in front of their awning installed by the organisers in the F1 Lane in the middle of the F1 teams! Maximum visibility in fact for four days of automotive pleasure and promotion of the energy transition in endurance… and beyond!

Pierre Fillon
President of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, co-President of MissionH24

"This Goodwood Festival of Speed is an exceptional event in the motor car milieu thanks to its history and the variety of cars entered and on display and by the magnificence of the surroundings. This year, MissionH24 took part with two prototypes, the LMPH2G and H24.

It was an opportunity to demonstrate on the track the incredible work carried out by the team and their partners over the last four years and since the launch of MissionH24, to share with everybody competitors and public alike our hydrogen strategy for zero emission competition via hydrogen.

After the first race in Imola in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in May, participation in the Road To Le Mans during the 90th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans two weeks ago, these four days at Goodwood are proof of the intense activity surrounding this programme led by the ACO and GreenGT.""

Christophe Ricard
President of GreenGT, co-President of MissionH24

"We’ve just lived through an exceptional four days at Goodwood. While it’s always an honour to receive an invitation to the Festival of Speed, the pleasure of taking part is just as intense. For the second year running the MissionH24 programme was highlighted in a unique fashion: we were integrated into the most prestigious grids and were given all the honours by the Duke of Richmond whom I would like to thank for his welcome.

There’s no other event in the world like the Goodwood Festival of Speed and this year it gave pride of place to the energy transition of mobility sending an additional sign to MissionH24 and their partners. The path that we’re taking generated a great deal of interest and enthusiasm. From Thursday to Sunday the uninterrupted stream of visits by drivers all generations combined to see our cars was the best possible proof of this!"

Below: Sir Jackie Stewart, the triple F1 world champion (1969, 1971, 1973) wearing his trademark Scottish cap came to visit MissionH24. Benoît Tréluyer, also wearing a cap and Bermuda shorts, three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, wanted to have a look at the programme’s electric-hydrogen prototypes as well.
