De kogel is door de kerk. In 2013 zal in het weekend van 23 juni Circuit Zolder door bulderende V8 motoren trillen op zijn grondvesten. V-Max Racing Management is er namelijk in geslaagd om de International Superstars Series in 2013 naar Zolder te halen. De Superstars is prestigieus kampioenschap met door V8 motoren aangedreven brullende touringcars.
Deze auto’s worden bestuurd door bekende coureurs zoals Vitantonio Liuzzi, Giancarlo Fisichella en Mika Salo, die van elke race een spectaculaire show maken. Het evenement, dat SUPERSTARS @ ZOLDER gaat heten, is de opvolger van de Zolder Superprix, een evenement dat de afgelopen jaren ook door V-Max Racing Management werd georganiseerd.
Naast de Superstars komen ook de Supercar Challenge powered by Dunlop, het HDI-Gerling Dutch GT-kampioenschap en het Italiaanse GT Sprint-kampioenschap in het weekend van 23 juni naar Circuit Zolder.
De International Superstars Series is een van oorsprong Italiaans kampioenschap dat inmiddels bekendheid in geheel Europa en ver daarbuiten geniet. Het concept van de Superstars is eigenlijk vrij simpel: leg een dikke brullende V8 in een toerwagen, zet in deze wagens razendsnelle coureurs en je hebt eigenlijk alle ingrediënten voor spannende races.
Deze races staan dan altijd ook bomvol spektakel met half driftende bolides en spannende deur aan deur gevechten. Auto’s die aan de start verschijnen zijn onder andere de Audi RS5, BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG, Maserati Quattroporte, Jaguar XF SV8 en de Cadillac CTS-V. Stuk voor stuk indrukwekkende bolides!
De racewagens in de International Superstars Series zijn indrukwekkend, maar dat zijn zeker ook de namen van de coureurs. Er verschenen in 2012 namelijk veel bekende namen aan de start, zoals voormalig F1-coureurs Vitantonio Liuzzi, Giancarlo Fisichella, Mika Salo, Johnny Herbert, Gianni Morbidelli en Christian Klien. Stuk voor stuk rijders die tot het uiterste gaan om een overwinning te behalen.
Het programma van de SUPERSTARS @ ZOLDER zit het hele weekend bomvol. Naast de Superstars komt uit Italië namelijk ook het GT Sprint kampioenschap, met bolides zoals de Ferrari 458 GT3 en Corvette Z06 GT3, naar België. Vanuit Nederland komen de Supercar Challenge powered by Dunlop en het HDI Gerling Dutch GT-Championship naar Circuit Zolder. Autosportfanaten kunnen 22 en 23 juni 2013 dus alvast in hun agenda omcirkelen.
